What to Look for When Choosing a Psychic – Part 2

In my last post on this subject I discussed 6 things to look for when choosing a new psychic. I will continue the list here in this post.

7. Most importantly, what is your first impression of the psychic when you first meet him or her or talk via telephone? This is where your psychic ability comes into play. If the psychic has a web site, be sure to view a picture of him or her. If you do not get a good feeling about the psychic, move on. You’re instincts are, more than likely, accurate.

8. Is the psychic a good communicator? There is nothing more frustrating than receiving a reading from a psychic who does not have a good command of your native language or doesn’t communicate enough or clearly enough. It is okay to ask for more details or for an explanation of something your reader has seen for you.

9. How does the psychic charge their fees? If they charge your reading to your phone bill then they are a hotline telephone psychic. It might be a good idea to pay for your reading in cash rather than with a credit or debit card, if possible, until you develop trust in your business relationship with the psychic.

10. Does the psychic offer different rates for time or tasks performed for you? If you only need a 15-minute reading for one question, why get stuck paying for unused time that you may not want to use later? And be sure to ask what additional charges there will be if you decide to go over the time slot that you have purchased.

11. Even if you have paid in advance for your reading it is okay to stop a reading that has been, for the most part, inaccurate. Pay for what time you received and cut your losses. Hoping that the reader’s accuracy will improve during the session rarely works out. Ask about the psychic’s refund policy before the reading begins if you paid in advance. Remember, this is a business transaction between you and the psychic. Treat your session the same as you would with any other service professional.

What to Look for When Choosing a Psychic

Just as it is important to carefully select a doctor, a dentist or a building contractor, it is very important to do the same when selecting a psychic for a reading. As in other professions, there are a lot of fakes in the psychic profession. This is especially true when the economy is not going well, as is the case presently. The explosion of hotline telephone psychics has also helped to make it very difficult to choose wisely.

Here is a list of things to consider when you are looking for a new psychic or for one to give you a second opinion on a reading from your regular psychic.

1. Is this an established psychic or is this a psychic from a psychic hotline or website? Psychics from hotlines and psychic web sites are generally not well-tested for accuracy by their employers, if they are tested at all.

2. Does the psychic use tools to enhance their gift such as cards, spells, runes or tea leaves? You should always ask about this. You may not want or trust a reader who uses tools to perform your reading.

3. What type of psychic talents does the psychic possess? Many psychics have more than one psychic talent. They may be clairvoyant, clairsentient, clairaudient, a Medium, a channeler, an empath or any combination of these talents and more. Multiple talents are a plus.

4. How long have they been in practice? The longer that they have been practicing their craft the better. Fake psychics don’t have long careers as their fakery is eventually exposed early on.

5. What is their accuracy rate? No psychic is 100%. Perfection is impossible in this universe. However, a high rate of accuracy, 70-90%, is generally found in your better psychics. Ask.

6. Find out what is different about them as opposed to other psychics. It is a bad sign if they stutter or stammer or can’t answer this question quickly and with conviction.

What is Mediumship? – Continued

As I stated in my last post, there are many different types of Mediums. And there are many different interpretations of those different types of Mediums. Here are a few of mine:

  • Channeler: A Channeler is a person who acts as a “speaker” for spirit. They willingly allow spirit to “possess” them and speak to whomever is present for the channeling session. This phenomenon is known as a “walk-in”. The Channeler performs this type of Mediumship at a cost to themselves. Channeling Spirit is physically and mentally exhausting. Many people believe that Channelers and Mediums are one and the same. The argument for and against this concerns whether the Channeler is in an altered state of consciousness when the “walk-in” takes place.
  • Transmedium: A person who produces mediumistic phenomena of all kinds after entering a state of trance. This involves the producing of ectoplasm, body parts, musical instruments, ethereal images and noises from thin air. The Transmedium is “transporting” something temporarily from the ethereal realm into the physical realm. There have been numerous occasions where sitters in a “seance” have reported the appearance of arms, legs, faces and clouds of ectoplasm. Some of the sitters reported that they touched the appendages while they floated in mid-air and that they felt real.
  • Medium: A person, most frequently a woman, who communicates with spirits, usually on behalf of another person. There are several overlapping types of mediumship:
  1. Spirit Medium: This type of Medium communicates back and forth with spirits without going into a trance. Generally, they only receive information and do not ask for information from Spirit. This person usually has no control over when and where the communication takes place. For instance, they may warn you of some danger in the middle of a conversation with you and may identify the Spirit that communicated the information to them. For example, they may say, “Your Grandmother, Irene, who has passed over wants you to go home. Something is wrong there.”.
  2. Trance Medium: This type of Medium goes into a trance to communicate with spirits. They are not aware of what occurs while they are in trance and therefor, have no memory of the communication with Spirit. They do not make psychic predictions or answer questions for sitters who are present at the seance.
  3. Mental Medium: This type of Medium answers questions through Spirit as they are asked by “sitters” at a seance. He or she is completely lucid and does not go into the trance state to communicate with Spirit. They do not make psychic predictions.
  4. Psychic Medium: This type of Medium communicates with spirit in a lucid state and receives psychic predictions from the Spirit Guides of the sitter who is present for the reading. They may also come into contact with Spirit Guides or the Spirit of loved ones who are present for the person receiving the reading.

I fall into the Psychic Medium category, although, I am capable of doing Trance Mediumship. I do not perform Trance Mediumship because it is so physically exhausting and I worry about its affect on my health. I also worry about Spirit becoming attached to me as a result. I have had that happen in the past and it is a very uncomfortable experience. I do know how to unattach myself from the Spirit but I do not enjoy having it happen to me.

I also have other psychic talents that I will talk about some other time in another post.

What is Mediumship?

Often times, usually whenever I identify myself as a Medium, I am asked to define the term.  It is a very hard task to define that term in a short phrase because the term “Medium” is very generic. Like so many other genres, Mediumship has become very splintered over the past 150 or more years. Mediumship came about as the result of the development of Spiritualism beginning in the 1840’s and continued to develop well into the 1920’s in the United States.

Spiritualism  is a belief that the spirits of those who have passed on from the physical world have the ability and the desire to communicate with the living who remain in the physical world. In the Afterlife, Spiritualists believe that the Spirit continues to evolve in its non-physical or ethereal domain. They believe, as a result, that Spirit is more highly evolved than man and that spirits are capable of providing useful knowledge about moral, ethical and personal issues, as well as about the nature of the creator of the Universe. That is why Spiritualists came up with the term “Spirit Guides” for the Spirit that they communicate with from the ethereal realm. Spiritualists believe that they are demonstrating the existence of Spirit through messages obtained by Mediumship.

I usually offer a simple explanation of what a Medium is and what they do. I say that a Medium is a person, usually female, who communicates with spirits on behalf of another person. And that is what Medium does in a nutshell. There is so much more to it than that, though. In the years since the 1840’s much experimentation has been done in the field of Mediumship. And, because humans are individually unique, many of those experimenters found different ways to demonstrate the existence of Spirit.

The state of consciousness that needs to be achieved in order to perform Mediumship is the same regardless of the type of contact with Spirit. All Mediums have to enter a state of Trance. I have discussed this state in a previous post in my discussion of the Alpha States. Mediums drop into Alpha 3 which is the Trance State. Contact with Spirit requires that we alter our state of consciousness so that we can be communicated with by Spirit. Some of us are born with the ability to drop in, hold and return from the Trance State at will. When we have that talent we are known as Mediums who are used by Spirit to communicate with us across different planes of existence.

The Art of Manifestation Part 4

Sometimes we don’t need to do anything more than believe that we can manifest.

For example, let’s say you want to attract a relationship with a man or a woman. In days gone by, you would get a love potion from Gypsy and slip it into a drink for the object of your desire. Again, this would create imbalance as the object of your desire has no interest in you. You will have circumvented their free will.

Here, the best way to attract a mate is to firmly believe that he or she will come to you. You need to “see” that in your mind and reaffirm constantly that he or she is coming to you. Have a general idea of the qualities that you are looking for but don’t be too specific. And then you need to relax and reaffirm the event or thing you need to attract until it manifests.

You repeat this affirmation daily so that the attraction continues. I personally have employed the Art of Manifestation many times in my life with great success. I have prevailed in situations that no one believed that I would prevail. I simply believed with all of my being that the outcome was as I saw it in my mind.

You can manifest even more successfully in an altered state of consciousness. When we start to go to sleep we drop into an Alpha state. That state is divided into 4 levels. The Alpha One Level is where daydreaming occurs. This is where you go when you’re driving down the road and suddenly realize that you haven’t been paying attention to the road at all. You were daydreaming.  This is where we go to figure solutions to problems. This is called the Rhythm of Genius state. It is also the best state to go to for Manifestation.

In the Alpha One state your 5 senses are cut off so that you can focus entirely on something. Daydreaming, contrary to popular belief, can be a good thing. This is where you can best focus entirely the object of your manifestation. You are creating the non-physical reality in your mind and so it’s dual counterpart in the physical world is being created, too.

The Daydreaming state can be achieved easily by sitting in a chair and focusing on the desired results or during a meditation. Again, you need to repeat this process to continue the attraction of your desire.

In summary, we have been practicing Manifestation for over 50,000 years. It is something that we have always done and will most likely always do. Manifestation comes as a result of three principles or laws. They are the Principle of Duality, the Principle of Magic by Contagion and the Law of Attraction.

We begin to manifest when the first thought of what we need occurs. We help to manifest by immersing ourselves in the vibration of the thing or event that we wish to create. And we attract the object of our manifestation as a result of that immersion.

And, lastly, daydreaming and meditation increases the force of the attraction.

This ends my discussion on Manifestation. Thank you for taking the time to read my posts on this subject.

The Art of Manifestation Part 3

Duality is running the computers that we are all using right now. We call it the binary system. Basically our computers are running on yes or no and 0 and 1. The most important aspect of duality in this discussion is that balance is being created constantly around us. If any one thing were created without its counterpart it would create chaos in our Universe. When we choose to manifest we have to remember that we need to create balance. It is incorrect to use manifestation to someone else’s disadvantage.

For example, if I manifest a pile of money in the middle of my living room I may have unwittingly created unbalance. Where did this money come from? Did it come from my neighbors or from the vault of the local bank? If so, I have affected those people negatively because I gain and they lose. That is incorrect manifestation.

Instead of magically creating it, I need to attract this money in a way that balance is maintained.  I will have to employ a law to correctly manifest this money that I need. That law is known as the Law of Attraction. This law is similar to Magic by Contagion. Here we attract things to us by vibrating around them.

Let’s say that I need more money to live comfortably. I cannot get a sufficient raise at work to accomplish this. So what do I do? I begin to manifest a new job that will pay me more money. Once I decide on the new job I simply immerse myself in it.

Let’s say I want a new career as a Stock Broker. I will walk, talk, eat and sleep the stock market. My friends will be sick to death about hearing any more about it because that’s my total focus. I will take courses that are related to the stock market and my classmates will become my good friends. They are also immersed in their desire to work in the stock market. Their stock-market consciousness increases the level of my stock-market consciousness and vice versa. I am now a stock broker by virtue of my immersion in it.

Eventually, I will attract the right situation that will allow me to work as a stock broker. And I did it without creating imbalance. I did it as a result of my action and of my firm belief that I would become what I desired.

The the most important element in manifestation is the belief that it will work.

The Art of Manifestation Part 2

In addition to the cave paintings we have also discovered crude soft-lava sculptures of women with extended bellies and swollen breasts. These were most likely carved and left near the women in the caves in the belief that they, too, would become pregnant resulting from the constant influence from the pregnant-like sculptures. This is one form of manifestation. The paintings and the lava sculptures are attempting to employ the Principle of Magic by Contagion. That is to say that mankind believed that everything on Earth had a consciousness whether it was animate or inanimate. And when you remained in close proximity to any dissimilar object its consciousness (or vibration) would affect yours.

In a sense, we basically believe that there is a constant blending of consciousness here in the physical realm. So, mankind placed the paintings where they knew the Earth Spirit would pass by it and be influenced by its vibration. They believed that they were altering the consciousness of the Spirit by producing the painting which also had a consciousness. If you think about it, this is a very complex set of thoughts for a race of people who seemingly had very little technology and knowledge.

I believe that when we first gained sentience (became aware of our existence) an operating system was started up and is still running in each one of us. Carl Jung, the famous Swedish Psychiatrist, called this operating system “The Collective Unconsciousness”. He believed that this was the knowledge that is inherited by each one of us. That inherited knowledge is most likely the source of our innate practice of manifestation. Each one of believes in it and practices it every day of our lives.

Carl Jung went on in later years to discuss the creation of reality. He stated that reality was created in our minds first. He stated that by simply thinking something, its creation was begun. He also theorized that anything we could think of could come into being as a result. This can be explained by a second important principle. That principle is the Principle of Duality.

This principle runs our Universe entirely. It states that when anything is created its mirror image must be created at the same time. So the birth of our thought, which is non-physical, causes something physical to be created. This duality is obvious everywhere in the Universe. It creates action and reaction, up and down, in and out, positive and negative, on and off, male and female and so on.

The Art of Manifestation

Beginning with this post, I want to talk to you about the Art of Manifestation.

When I speak of Manifestation, I am speaking about the act of bringing our thoughts into reality. That is to say, manifestation is the practice of bringing about desired results that began initially as a thought in our minds. For example, when I discover that I need something that is beyond my normal ability to produce, I employ the Art of Manisfestation to bring it into reality.

As a race of people, we have been practicing the Art of Manifestation for at least 50,000 years. How do we know this? We know it as a result of our discovery of ancient paintings in caves that are located in Europe and South America. When those cave paintings were first discovered Archaeologists and Anthropologists thought that the paintings were made to commemorate special events. Primarily, these paintings depict the successful hunt or the animals that were the object of the hunt. Early man made some of these paintings between 50,000 and 35,000 years ago.

As more and more of these paintings were discovered scientists came to another startling conclusion. They realized that the paintings were most likely placed on the cave walls in order to bring the successful hunt into reality. The cave during this period in our history was a sacred place. We know it was sacred because the sacred rites of initiation for young boys and girls who had reached puberty were performed in the interior caves. Their hands were stenciled onto the walls of the cave by the tribal Shaman so that the Spirit of the Earth would recognize them and nurture them.

It is thought that early mankind believed that the source of all life energy emanated from the center of the earth through the caves on their way to the surface of our planet. They believed that this energy was sent forth by an intelligent Spirit of the Earth. Remember that early mankind during this period wielded very little power over their environment. They had to search long and hard for their prey. And while the tribe waited for an animal as large as the Wooly Mammoth to stray into their territory they must have gotten very hungry.

In their desperation, they began to figure out ways to influence the Spirit of the Earth in order to get the things they needed for their survival. The cave paintings were placed on the walls of the cave in the belief that the energy from the Spirit of the Earth would pass by and be influenced to create what was needed for the tribe. The cave paintings are artifacts that lead us to believe that this was one of the first attempts by mankind to manifest its destiny. We have been practicing it in one form or another since then.

The Psychic and Meditative Power of Water

The psychic and meditative power of water has been utilized in every culture around the world for centuries. Water cleanses, refreshes and restores all life. Man has always been drawn to water especially in the form of streams, rivers, lakes, natural artesian fountains and majestic waterfalls.

Water is a carrier. It flows. It moves along the line of least resistance. Since our bodies are made up of approximately 82% water and the moon controls the tides, it also controls our bodies, emotionally.  Water affects emotionally, as well, and it is healing for us to be near it. When we immerse ourselves in large bodies of water from a bathtub all the way up to the ocean, we re-purify ourselves emotionally and physically. And don’t forget that we develop in water before we are born into the air-world. I believe that is why water is primal for us.

Try to place a water fountain indoors, as well as outdoors, to experience the relaxing and meditative power of water. Water fountains create a peaceful, harmonious indoor and outdoor environment. Some of the beneficial properties of Indoor and Outdoor Fountains are as:

  • a natural humidifier
  • a meditation tool
  • a sleep aid
  • a stress reducer
  • an air cleanser

Every time I am in the shower, my psychic ability is stimulated and I receive stronger images from Spirit.

Meditative drum sequences, new age music and binaural alpha tones enhance and deepen the alpha effect of the sound of burbling water during meditation. I always play those kinds of CD’s when I guide my clients through meditation at my home in California. I’m sure that you will be pleased with the added effect of water sounds to your meditations.

Making Use of Alpha Level 2

The Alpha 2 level can be used for several different things.  It is most often used for light meditation, Astral Travel and Extra Sensory Perception (ESP). The best way to achieve this state is by playing repeated or “looped” sounds while you meditate.

I use drum tracks to help my clients achieve this state when I guide them through meditations. My favorite CD for this is Sacred Earth Drums  by David and Steve Gordon. It is available in several different formats on Amazon.com. If you are meditating by yourself, the effect of the drumbeats are enhanced if you use headphones or ear buds.

There are other sounds that can help to induce the Alpha 2 state as well. They can be harder to come by, though. They are known as Binaural Tones or Binaural Beats. A Binaural Tone is created by playing two different tones simultaneously. The tones are played separately in stereo channels and you will definitely need to use headphones or earbuds  for them to be effective.

The Binaural Tones are slightly different from one another. To be effective in inducing the Alpha 2 and other Alpha states they must be below 1000 hertz and both of the tones should be no more  than 10 Hertz apart. If the tones are above 1000 hertz or more than 10 hertz apart the tones are not effective.

There are many CD’s available that use Binaural Tones coupled with subliminal messages. They are used for subconscious programming to produce positive life-changing results. However, for our purposes here, I prefer that you use the tones without subliminal messaging if you want to perform Astral Travel or use your ESP.

There is an app for your Iphone that creates Binaural Tones for you. Here is a link for it: myNoise
By Stephane Pigeon

The technique for using Binaural Tones to induce altered states of consciousness is very simple. You start the Binaural Tones or drum beats and lay down to meditate with your headphones on. Close your eyes, relax your mind and try to keep it as clear as you possibly can. Focus on the beats and let your mind go wherever it wants to take itself. Everyone has different experiences with this technique so don’t be surprised at what occurs during this session. Just go with the flow in your first attempts to achieve the Alpha 2 level. Later, when you are more experienced, you should be able to exert some control over the experience.

Be sure to record the results of your session for future reference. This is especially important if you have received any psychic visions while in the Alpha 2 level.

I will discuss uses for Alpha Level 3 in my next post.
