Defining the Numeric Character 1 in Numerology

When we discussed the Numeric character Zero, we talked about the promise of that character. Its promise was that of hidden and eventual creation. When that creation occurs we see the emergence of the numeric character 1.

The numeric character 1 symbolizes the entry into the realm of phenomenon. It is the first mover from the void of the Cosmic Egg, Zero. Therefore, it is germinal and gives rise to the principal of duality. And, because it is the first to move forward, it is the number of leadership and independence.

The number 1 is the number of the Creator or God, if that is your belief. It is the “I” as being distinct from others. As a result, it represents perfection and purity. The number one is often referred to as the “Adam” number. In this case, it represents the creation of a single man by God or the Creator. Here, Adam represents the entire human race because he is the one and only member of it. Before any other humans were created the human race was “pure”.

When I see the number 1 when reading for my clients, I know that it may mean new beginnings for them. If it is white, the beginning is positive. If the 1 is black, it will be negative. If I see a white number 1 with other symbols it may indicate the need for independence, motivation, striving forward, progress, ambition, will power, positivity and positiveness. If I see a black number 1 with other symbols it may indicate stubbornness, single-mindedness, intolerance, conceit, narrow-mindedness, stubbornness, control or dominance.

The symbol for number 1 is a single, vertical line. The half arrow that is often drawn at the top of the 1 is symbolic of a spear that is always in forward motion. As a result, the 1 is masculine and active.

The emergence of the 1 has now given rise to multiplicity. It creates the possibility and the inevitability of the number 2.

Tomorrow we will explore the meaning of the number 2.
